Gemstone Sourcing Service - Kim Rix

Independent Gemstone Sourcing

Find the right gemstone with expert, independent guidance before making an important purchase.

More Than Simply Buying a Gemstone

Whether you are searching for a sapphire for an engagement ring, a rare collector’s gemstone or a meaningful gift, the right stone should feel personal, significant and worthy of the occasion.

It might be a natural sapphire chosen specifically with your partner in mind, found through trusted industry contacts rather than selected from a standard retail display.

Or it may be an unusual gemstone you would not have discovered alone, supported by independent guidance on its apparent quality, available documentation and the questions that should be resolved before you commit.

My role is to help you make a well-informed decision and access gemstones that may not ordinarily be available through conventional retail channels.

Who This Is For

This service is for individuals seeking independent guidance before making a significant gemstone purchase.

Choosing a Stone for an Engagement Ring

You want a gemstone that feels distinctive and personal, with expert guidance on quality, treatments, pricing and suitability.

Commissioning Bespoke Jewellery

You are creating a one-off piece and want the gemstone chosen deliberately, rather than being limited to a jeweller’s existing stock.

Making a Significant Purchase

You are buying for a milestone, future heirloom or personal collection and want an independent perspective before committing.

Searching for Something Specific

You are looking for a particular gemstone, colour, size, quality or characteristic that may be difficult to find through conventional retail channels.

Seeking Independent Expertise

You value impartial guidance from someone whose role is to represent your interests rather than sell from existing stock.

What This Service Is

This is a private, independent gemstone sourcing service for clients who want to make a significant purchase with greater clarity and confidence. I act on your behalf to identify suitable gemstones, examine the available information, ask the right questions and support the buying process through trusted miners, cutters and dealers. Where appropriate, I may recommend physical examination or independent laboratory testing before purchase.

Independent Sourcing. No stock. No bias.

How the Sourcing Process Works

Step 1: Define Your Ideal Gemstone

We begin by discussing what the gemstone is for, the qualities that matter to you and the budget available. This may include colour, size, origin, treatment preferences and how the stone will ultimately be used.

Step 2:  Identify Suitable Options

I search through my established industry network and present carefully selected gemstones that appear to meet your brief, rather than limiting you to a retailer’s existing stock.

Step 3:  Examine the Available Information

I consider the gemstone’s apparent quality, disclosed treatments, laboratory reports, seller information and asking price. Where necessary, I may recommend physical examination or independent laboratory testing before purchase.

Step 4:  Compare Your Options

You receive clear, independent guidance on the differences between the gemstones, including their strengths, limitations and any questions that still need answering.

Step 5:  Make an Informed Decision

You decide whether to proceed, request further information or continue the search, supported by professional guidance rather than sales pressure or guesswork.

  • Unheated Burmese Ruby sourcing from Mogok

Gemstone Sourcing Worldwide

Start With A Sourcing Consultation

The first step is a one-to-one consultation to discuss what you are looking for, what the gemstone will be used for and the budget available.

Whether you are choosing a stone for an engagement ring, bespoke jewellery piece, personal collection or significant purchase, the consultation helps establish what is realistic and where the best opportunities may lie.

You can ask questions, explore possible options and gain a clearer understanding of quality, treatments, pricing and availability before any sourcing begins.

Afterwards, I will recommend the most appropriate next step and explain whether further sourcing support would be worthwhile.

There is no obligation to proceed with a gemstone purchase or additional sourcing services.
