5 Gemstones to reduce stress

Stress Awareness Month could not have been timed more appropriately this year! I know it’s not just me who’s feeling disorientated – trying to cope with the current situation is stressful for all of us. With Covid-19 making the world seem strange and a bit scary, I thought I’d put together a list of gemstones said to help create positive energy in a state of emergency.

Gemstones to ease anxiety

It’s natural to feel anxious in uncertain times.  However, the body doesn’t function well when exposed to prolonged periods of stress.   Amethyst is probably the best-known gemstone for dispelling negative feelings and soothing anxiety.  Because amethyst is said to balance the emotions, it helps us to experience stress differently and so take difficult situations in our stride.

If you’re prone to health anxiety or panic attacks, try calming blue sodalite.  Often called the ‘Stone of Peace’, sodalite is great for those who become stuck in rigid patterns of thinking and acting.  Its comforting energy is not only said to reduce feelings of panic, but also to aid restful sleep.

Gemstones to aid productivity

Stress Awareness Month is a good time to think about the type of environment in which you function best. If you’re not used to working from home, you might be experiencing a drop in productivity. It’s especially hard for extroverts, who draw energy from being around people. Recover your motivation with fiery carnelian, which is a gemstone used to stimulate drive and enthusiasm.

Even if you’re an introvert, you may find it difficult to manage the blurring of boundaries between your professional and home life.  Tiger’s Eye is the perfect gemstone to declutter your mind, allowing you to focus on the task at hand.  Because Tiger’s eye is also said to instil confidence, it will help you feel that you’ve got this – you can cope with the changes to your life!

Gemstones to boost joy and positivity

With the cloud of coronavirus hanging over us, why not try to find its silver lining?  Slowing down our pace of living does have its positives!  People are beginning to step back from their lives and reassess what really matters.  Alexandrite is a brilliant gemstone for this as it is said to build a deep sense of joy from within, helping you to see beauty in the smallest of moments.

My last suggestion is Zingy yellow citrine – a stone believed to promote good cheer and happiness by bringing transforming negative feelings into happy ones.

Wishing you all much peace, health and happiness.
